Growing Info

SOWING:

Sow outdoors after your last frost. 

Note: Sunflowers are best sown outdoors in full sun. They prefer infrequent but deep watering.

PLANTING DEPTH:

Cover seed lightly as light is required for germination

SPACING:

12-24" in rows 24-36" apart. 

EMERGENCE:

7-14 days @ soil temp 70-85F.

LIGHT:

Full sun

FERTILITY:

Average to heavy. Prefer loamy and well-drained, soil and balanced fertility.
Beware of providing excess Nitrogen as you will have more plant then flowers. 

ADDITIONAL NOTES:  

Tolerant of many soil types.

Cut back spent flowers for even more blooms. 

Attract birds, butterflies, children (who are the best of us), pollinators and small critters of all types. 

Cut stems when flowers are almost fully, and place them in warm water in a cool shady spot.
